Tango Heat club, the award winning Argentine tango
salon started in year 2003 and is presently based in
various venues in London, UK, run by its creator Lora
Hudson.
The idea of Tango Heat is to provide an all-inclusive
environment for students to learn, dance, relax and
enjoy the tango. The club’s ethos is simple, “the
atmosphere where you learn is just as important as the
subject you are studying”. They celebrate the tango
artist with musicians and guest teachers that are the
best in the business.
With some previous dance experience from various
genres, Lora discovered the tango as a hobby. Her
love for the dance drew her further into the world of
tango in the reverse role as a leader. She took this
basic concept of “Ladies that lead and fellows that
follow” and set up her tango night in 2005 called
“Same Gender Tango”.
Headhunted by the dance company “Two Left Feet”, in Berkshire, UK, for students with
various physical disabilities, Lora teaches the lesson for more than fifty students and
their carers, the basics of the tango.
An invitation to teach the tango to the students of a Battersea secondary school,
London, ended with a demand for her to do classes after school for their parents and
teachers alike!
As volunteer fundraisers on behalf of two charities, “The Lupus Trust” and “The
Terrence Higgins Trust”, Tango Heat organises charity events to raise the awareness
and some donations for these two organisations.
Lora teaches her classes with the her two assistants David Armer and Cecylia Hinds but
owes a dept of gratitude to her first teachers Bianca and Miguel and all the truly great
tango maestros that taught her the art of what she affectionately calls, “THE DANCE”
